A new challenge for Peloponnese

Local entrepreneurship & modern international marketing

The launch of an innovative project under the “Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs" European programme on June 1st, in Ancient Olympia in Greece, set the milestone of the alliance between Ilia prefecture in Peloponnese with the county of Kent, Southern England, aiming at boosting entrepreneurship, extroversion and innovation in connection with the use of new technologies.
In this framework, for the next four months the local development centre of Ilia “Dione” with the guidance of Vaso Charitopoulou and the future entrepreneur in the field of graphics design, founder of the LittleBig Cards” company Georgina Cooper from Ashford, will exchange expertise, ideas and experience with entrepreneurs and business owners in Peloponnese and Kent in order to establish a business hub for the promotion of the common goals of development.

In order to create effective networks for the successful implementation of their common project, “Dione” and LittleBig Cards” met with other European organisations and stakeholders in Sorbo San Basile in Italy from 10 to 17th June 2016.
Taking part in the ‘From Nature We Learn’ youth exchange, the founder of LittleBig Cards” Georgina Cooper, and “Dione”’ s representative Panayiotis Korizis, met youth workers and volunteers from Spain, Italy, Greece, Poland and Latvia. Activities included creating and understanding the European Youthpass, cultural presentations of each participating country, involving traditional food tasting, music and dance, as well as providing information about the International Organisations that were participating in the exchange. Each day had scheduled activities that focused on teambuilding, problem solving, cultural differences and nature exploration.

Erasmus exchanges are often assumed to be “education for youngsters” thus being an unexplored area for most people in Kent and Peloponnese. The “Erasmus for young Entrepreneurs” opens opportunities for learners both old and young, to make a cooperative and balanced agreement and to achieve structured goals.
With clear, coherent, well communicated sets of values, “Dione” and “LittleBig Cards” will disseminate Erasmus projects and encourage European connections.
The ground work for projects is underway and will establish ongoing connections between both Ileia and Kent, before the end of September.
